Solution
This was quite an exciting project for us to tackle. Being an attic obviously the shape of the room was not conventional as we had sloping ceilings and roof trusses to negotiate in the design. The initial part of the remit was to look at the issue of the area being very cold. This required stripping out all of the black lime plaster and fully insulating the roof and walls with highly thermally efficient insulating materials. The further challenge was the lack of any natural light in the room as the client didn’t want roof lights so trying to make the space as airy as possible was a priority.
We were able to include in the design a free standing bath, separate shower enclosure, WC, bidet and basin. Additionally we commissioned the installation of some bespoke cupboards and shelving in the same style as the original doors.
The result was a very traditional yet classic look, providing a large family sized bathroom with all modern amenities. The client thought we did an excellent job with excellent service – “Overall an outstanding piece of work”
